Nancy Ledy-Gurren

General Counsel

Nancy Ledy-Gurren serves MedTech Risk Management as General Counsel with over four decades of experience in healthcare litigation, claims management and risk management. Her national practice focuses on the defense of medical institutions and professionals, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals and acute care providers, and senior living communities across all levels of care. She is widely recognized for her expertise in medical malpractice defense, governmental liability, healthcare product litigation, and complex medicolegal matters involving infertility and human tissue litigation.

Ms. Ledy-Gurren serves as national counsel to a Florida-based biotechnology company producing allografts and xenografts for surgical transplantation, as well as a national wound care provider operating over 400 facilities. For over 20 years, she acted as national litigation counsel for one of the nation’s largest senior living providers, overseeing tort litigation and risk management across approximately 300 properties, spanning skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living care.

A leader in infertility and tissue litigation, Ms. Ledy-Gurren has represented numerous institutional and individual fertility programs since 1978. Her work includes defending claims involving informed consent, statistical misrepresentation, and reproductive technology, with landmark involvement in Karlin v. IVF America, the first General Business Law claim involving infertility treatments heard by the New York Court of Appeals.

Her extensive litigation experience includes matters related to pelvic mesh, biologic implants, and human tissue products, including serving as lead counsel in the In Re Human Tissue Litigation and multidistrict litigation involving pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI). She has successfully negotiated global settlements involving thousands of claims related to tissue and biologics use within the medical field.

Her appellate advocacy spans decades, with appearances before the New York Court of Appeals, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and all New York State appellate departments. She has authored influential arguments on medical and professional liability, informed consent, and procedural law, including cases establishing precedent on liability in the absence of privity.
